Dora Arnold married Lum Whitaker. He was shot and killed moonshining. She then married William Andrew Hargis and they celebrated 50 years of marriage. She was Grandpa's sister born 8 May 1882-27 November 1971. He was born 29 August 1868-29 April 1964. Mom put flowers on their graves every year she was down there for Decoration Day.
Hello, I was doing some research and came across your blog. Dora was my great grandma. Elizabeth her daughter was my grandma. My Dad is Roy Whitaker, Elizabeth's and Walker Whitaker's son. I remember g-grandma Dora very briefly as a child - she was just as sweet as my Grandma Whitaker.
ReplyDeleteI don't get on here very often now that the weather is fine. Did you read the post on the Arnold family tree and the Arnold shootout. Lum Whitakar? Do you work on family trees? I talked with Etta Arnold Owens today. She is the daughter of Ernst, brother to Dora. She has many memories of Dora's family but lost track with them over the years. She still lives in Coalgood, KY. Mom's sister is named after Dora and her older brother was named after Dora's son Welty.
