Clifty Grove Church

This church is near the Arthur-Adkins cemetery. My grandmother was an Arthur and her family is buried there. Two of the church founders were Arthur's. My grandfather was an Arnold, and Rainey was part of that bunch I believe.

Gertie's Birthday 9-4-1925

I missed posting this on the actual date, Sep 4, because I was with Mom that day and then drove my Cadillac in the Herscher LABOR DAY PARADE on Monday! Then on to Pontiac and it's new museums on Tuesday.  This picture of Gertie and Mom was taken in 1964 I believe. Mike McVey has written some comments on this blog so I printed them off and read them to Mom Sunday. She was so happy to hear about the McVey boys. Especially on Gerties birthday!

McGilvary School

The Arnold kids,from Berle on down, went to this school while they lived on the Tom Martin Place (about 1937-44). This part of the building remains the same, to include the little roof. The owner came out and talked to us and brought a picture of the building from the 1920's.
