I spent the afternoon yesterday with Mom in her new room. Her phone isn't hooked up yet. She was happy so far except for the problems with her toenails. She's always had problems for many years and this day was a bad one. They had to clip her nails because of an ingrown/infection situation. The Dr hopefully has it fixed now.
Moving is traumatic at any age and it's when you find out who your friends are and who cares about you in your family.
It's 160 miles door to door to the Merkle Nursing Home for me and now 188 to this one. She enjoyed our time together, with her just talking away. She gave a detailed rundown of the move and when I talked with Marilyn Rose later she confirmed all of it. Mom does process some information erroneously occasionally but she is 90 and maybe she just sees something differently or wants to see it that way. This time she said how Charlie had driven the van, with three rows of seats, etc., when actually it was John. For the readers that don't know these names, Charlie was married to Marilyn Rose and John is his son-in-law. Charlie passed away in 1996 at the age of 59. We all miss him. Mom keeps him alive in her mind.
